Brief History of the Department (With Photographs) 

The Department of Management Studies, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag which follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), was established in the year 2008. The MBA programme (Two year full time), started from the session 2009-10 as per the approval of AICTE, New Delhi (Letter No: JHAR/MBA/09/2008/001 dated 12.06.2009) and HRD, Govt. of Jharkhand State (Letter No.: 162 dated 28.05.2008). In addition to that One (01) year PG Diploma programs in Rural Development & Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship Development and Tourism & Travel Management was started since 2011-12. A three storied building named after great strategist as ‘Kautilya Bhawan’ has been constructed in the VBU campus to run the MBA course by the University from the funds provided by the University Grant Commission.
The department has an intake of 60 (sixty) students now. The department has regular as well as visiting faculty members. The Department has well furnished class rooms, auditorium, meeting hall, computer lab, library-cum-reading room, health care centre, gymnasium apart from other facilities shared by the students of other faculties in the campus.
The campus life at MBA is quite rich as it is a place of numerous activities, in terms of academic, extra-curricular and extension activities which takes place here. The department practices mentorship with the class being divided into four groups each placed under a mentor. Lectures by eminent personalities, internal seminars by students and faculty, business quiz, entertaining programs like karaoke and Saturday program organized by one of the four groups keeps everybody alive. The department also has a MBA Students Club which has organized Blood Donation Camp regularly and has also won accolades from several quarters for its noble activity.
The department was involved fully in organizing three days “68th All India Commerce Conference” between 6th to 8th November 2015, in which around 1400 delegates from all over the country participated. The students were part of the volunteers who worked to make the conference a success. The department organized a one day National Seminar in 2014 on Corporate Social Responsibility’. The chief guest on the occasion was Sri. Yashwant Sinha, Ex- Minister, External Affair Ministry and Finance Minister,  GOI.   The department was the venue for 20 days Teacher’s Empowerment training program which was conducted by Microsoft. The department has also conducted “Computer Literacy Program” for two consecutive years for Forest Department of Jharkhand Govt.
The Department is located in a sprawling, lush green campus. It has an excellent ambience and a panoramic landscape suited ideally to a modern B-School endeavouring to produce goal oriented and value committed managers.
